For many, prescription medications are the preferred way to keep hormones in check, after all most doctors are going to recommend a prescription.

Consequently, Fortesta is receiving a lot of attention as a testosterone medicaiton.

“Fortesta Gel is an important new treatment option for men who are diagnosed with low testosterone,” explains Adran Dobs, MD. “Declining blood levels of testosterone can occur in men beginning as early as age 40. “[1]

Fortesta promises amazing results without the need for pills or capsules. Simply apply it to your skin and you’re ready to go!

But is Fortesta really a good solution? Or should you consider other options to boost your testosterone production?

What Is Fortesta?

Fortesta is a synthetic testosterone booster produced by Endo Pharmaceuticals. It is an FDA-approved gel absorbed into the blood stream when applied to skin.

According to clinical studies, 77.5% of Fortesta users achieved normal testosterone levels within 90 days. Only 3% stopped use due to negative side effects. [2]

Unfortunately, Fortesta is only prescribed and recommended to users suffering from hypogonadism or testosterone deficiency.

What Do Consumers Think About Fortesta?

While Fortesta isn’t the perfect solution for everyone, many users enjoy what it has to offer:

“I have been on this for 2mos and love it. it really works for me. my t level was in high 300 too,but now i cant get enough of my wife. true it takes a while for it to dry, but if you want the results get up a lil early or deal with the mess it make. “Easy to use. I feel positive effects after only two months. Some minor skin irritation but I’m controlling it by rotating the application sites & using OTC cortisone cream for the irritation.” – Andropausoid at

But like any other supplement, Fortesta takes time to adjust and not everyone responds in the same satisfied way. . .

“Just started today…and I DO NOT like the way it is making me feel. Very strange feeling. I do not think it will be worth this lousy feeling to increase my low testosterone.” – H at

Who Should Use Fortesta?

Fortesta is a class 3 controlled substance only available via doctor’s prescription. This is due to its potential side effect risk as well as high abuse rate among bodybuilders and athletes.

Fortesta is a Good Choice if. . .

• You suffer from hypogonadism or testosterone deficiency
• You have a doctor’s prescription
• You only use FDA-approved enhancement products

Do Not Use Fortesta if. . .

• You are looking for an oral or injectable testosterone supplement
• You want to stimulate testosterone production for aesthetic or athletic reasons
• You are looking for an erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation treatment
• You have breast cancer or prostate cancer
• You are a woman or under 18 years old

Be Cautious If. . .

• You are at risk for prostate cancer and enlarged prostate
• You are taking insulin, anticoagulants, or corticosteroids
• You have heart, liver, or kidney disease – or a history of medical conditions

How to Use Fortesta

Fortesta comes in a metered-dose pump which supplies precise doses.

The initial recommended testosterone dose is 40 mg (4 pumps) which should be applied once daily to thighs in the morning. The dose may be adjusted to as little as 10 mg testosterone to as much as 70 mg testosterone.

Although your doctor may adjust your dose depending on blood samples and tests, do not alter your dosage on your own without talking to your doctor first.

If you’re using Fortesta for the first time, you will need to prime the pump. Press the pump down 8 times. Do not use any of the gel that comes out during priming. Instead, wash it down the sink or safely dispose of it in the trash can. Be sure to avoid accidental exposure to women, children, and pets.

Fortesta works best when taken at the same time each day, preferably after your morning shower. Apply directly onto inner thighs as prescribed by your doctor, then rub in gently with your finger. Allow application to dry before dressing. Be sure application area is completely covered by clothing.

When finished, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Wait at least 2 hours before swimming, showering, or bathing.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, apply Fortesta as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and apply your regularly scheduled dose. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Do Not Take Fortesta Orally
Fortesta is a gel designed to be absorbed through the skin. It has little effect if taken orally. When medications are taken by mouth, they must pass through the liver before reaching the bloodstream. The testosterone would be metabolized (broken down) before reaching the blood stream.

When applied to the skin, Fortesta bypasses the liver, allowing significant amounts of the hormone to reach the blood stream.

Additionally, Fortesta should only be applied to the inner thigh area, where the skin is thin and the gel is more readily absorbed. It should not be applied to the genitals, arms, shoulders, abdomen, or any other part on the body.

Potential Risks and Side Effects

Even if used correctly, Fortesta comes with a long list of negative side effects. Most of these effects are mild, and many users have enjoyed success with the gel.

However, men should pay close attention to negative side effects and symptoms, both himself as well as in women and children he comes in contact with.

Typical Side Effects. Typical side effects include abnormal dreams, skin irritation and redness at the application site, and prostatic specific antigen increase (a test used to find prostate cancer).

Serious Side Effects. Serious side effects include allergic reactions, breast tenderness or enlargement, swelling in legs, changes in the size or shape of testicles, excessive fatigue, prolonged or painful erections, urination problems, shortness of breath, skin discoloration, and unexplained or unusual weight gain. If you experience these symptoms, seek medical help immediately.

Side Effects in Women and Children. Accidental testosterone exposure in women and children will cause negative side effects. In children, these effects include early puberty signs, increased aggression and sex drive, and enlarged genitals. In women, effects include an increase in acne and facial hair. Should these effects occur, stop using Fortesta and seek medical help immediately.

Where to Buy Fortesta

Fortesta is not available online or in stores. It can only be purchased from a pharmacy with a doctor’s prescription.

Typical out of pocket expense is approximately $700 per 4 month supply. However, this price may be reduced by signing up for the patient savings program or through certain insurance policies.

• FDA approved testosterone booster
• Clinically proven and researched
• Increased testosterone may increase libido and sex drive
• Reliable manufacturers
• Does not require an applicator or instrument
• Patient savings program available

• Does not address sexual performance issues
• Does not work for those suffering from enlarged prostate
• May cause serious negative side effects
• Should only be applied to the thighs
• Others may be accidentally exposed to the testosterone

Pick It or Pitch It?

Fortesta offers a clinically proven, but synthetic, way to increase testosterone levels. When used correctly on a regular basis, it should increase testosterone without causing severe negative side effects.

However, Fortesta isn’t for everyone. It requires a doctor’s prescription in order to use and is expensive if you are uninsured. Additionally, it takes time to notice and enjoy its benefits. And, if you stop using Fortesta, your testosterone levels will drop again.

If you want to try Fortesta, talk to your doctor for more information.
